Building Unstoppable Teams

Unstoppable teams are highly aligned teams. They actively practice and compassionately defend a core set of behaviours that are generous, intentional and thoughtful. People take actions that build common ground and break down silos.

Team members enjoy working together because each member knows their purpose and knows that they are valued. They have a high emotional commitment to their team and to the project and want to see it through to the end no matter how tough and pressured things get at times.

They have courageous conversations every day and can hold each other accountable with the greatest of respect. People in teams like these have the freedom to create, construct and course-correct — no-one feels territorial, shut-down or marginalised.

Sehaam Cyrene introduces the tactics and strategies which, if practiced consistently, invite and embed positive, collaborative behaviours both within our own teams and with external stakeholders, such as other functions, suppliers and clients.

Coach Managers of the Future

In this age of individual empowerment – the megatrend of our time – we understand behaviours, physiological drivers, and motivations far more than we ever did. People are not satisfied or so easily accepting of traditional structures. Nearly every aspect of people management is under scrutiny and challenge as new models of productive working emerge.

The pressure is on for managers to be more practiced and knowledgeable on what is takes to build and sustain a high performing team. They need visible and effective coaching skills expertly applied every day to make sure people stay and give their best because they are happy, feel they belong, and able to honour their sense of purpose.

The managers of the future will be Coach Managers. Prized for their high emotional intelligence, Coach Managers will be the vanguards of culture, and have an intrinsic understanding of human behavior and how to get the best from people. They will set themselves apart by consistently applying their skill and intuition to provide feedback, to influence and to delegate.

The impact of Coach Managers will be measured by the quality of people’s experiences and the quality of business results. And they will have far greater reach and involvement in a company’s longer term people strategy.

During the brief talk and one day workshop, Sehaam Cyrene will introduce you to the eight competencies of future Coach Managers: Voice, Body and Personal values | Trust & Equity | Listening & Expanding | Enquiry & Validation | Decision-Making & Risks | Delegation & Accountability | Culture & Collaboration | Presence & Influence.

30 April 2019, 8am – 10am | Breakfast Workshop | £25 – light breakfast and refreshments served

Cultivate Your Own Leadership Style

You may be a leader already but do you know why you lead the way you do? Do you know what you’re prepared to risk so that you can be more influential or inspirational?

Leadership consists of having presence and having the ability to inspire and motivate others. You can have presence and be influential without being inspirational, or you can be inspirational without having presence and have limited influence. How can you cultivate both presence and the ability to inspire?

People with outstanding leadership tap into their internal strength and emotional intelligence – their ability to empathise, to listen to their intuition, to be open to collaboration, to exercise self control, and to activate their concern for others. They have a wide repertoire of behaviours and skills available to them for different situations.

People with outstanding leadership also have business savvy and easily make connections between strategy and tactics. In other words, they are translators and can speak the language of their audiences to make emotional connections and to motivate people into clear, aligned action.

Cultivating your own leadership style requires a mindset of self-observation and intentional growth. You also need to be willing to see the truth and to experiment with different behaviours. Sehaam Cyrene will introduce you to a personal growth model for cultivating your own leadership style that addresses your presence, influence, being inspirational, and being strategic.

Influence: Read People Right

At the heart of influencing others is our own ability to interpret the things happening around us accurately. To influence successfully, we need to read other people right – gather evidence – so we know how to position an idea or proposition and secure the best possible outcome.

A combination of not reading the signals, over-relying on assumptions and not investing enough time in building emotional connections lead us to feeling frustrated about our own ability to influence others or to back ourselves when we’re challenged. Where we seek to collaborate, we instead meet resistance.

By reframing our context and interpreting things happening around us more accurately, we can think, communicate and act more strategically. Sehaam Cyrene introduces her 5 Stages of Influence starting with a strong vision of ourselves through to reaching action and accountability in ways that strengthen our relationships and break-down silos.

Negotiate Like a Pro

Whether you are negotiating the scope and terms of a project, services from a third party, a partnership, investment, or joint venture, there’s a 90% chance that you are leaving risks or treasures on the table. Which means one or all parties are walking away with a mediocre deal.

The fundamental mistakes people make include seeing only half the negotiation opportunity, not asking enough questions or not listening deeply, aiming too low, being afraid to be open and direct, not having a defined negotiation range, viewing the process as combative and adversarial, and not actively searching for the added value.

By adjusting your mindset to be more collaborative and viewing the process as more of a problem-solving exercise, you are already meeting the first condition of successful negotiations. From here, your success depends heavily on your ability to consistently demonstrate some critical negotiating behaviours to earn trust, respect and the right to be at the table in the first place.

Come and learn what conditions and behaviours are most likely to get you the deal you want, more of the time. Sehaam Cyrene will walk you through the key factors, including the role of empathy and generosity, for negotiating like a pro.

28 February 2019, 8am – 10am | Breakfast Workshop | £25 – light breakfast and refreshments served
Host: Experience Haus, Old Street, London EC2A | Click Here to Book Your Place

Negotiate Like a Pro is great for sales professionals and teams as well as anyone who needs to negotiate with prospects, clients (internal or external). Formats for this topic are:

  • 2 hour interactive session
  • Full day workshop

Workplace Taboos: Stress & Low Grade Bullying

We apply superficial treatments to stress and avoid using the B word, especially at work.

Based on latest research data, it’s likely that half your people are currently suffering from job burnout and will be hoping to leave within the next 6 months. Not only do they feel you’re not paying them enough for the hours they work, other stress contributors are poor management, no clear connection between their role and your company strategy, and your company’s negative culture. And you would rather spend money to hire new people than in invest in making your existing talent want to stay – hence the superficial treatments and avoidance tactics.

These stress factors can also bring with them what could be classed as low grade bullying – a kind of under the radar bullying that is hard to identify and evidence. This is where it all gets horribly tricky. And it gets really uncomfortable when the perpetrator is the boss or the company “genius”. It feels too hard to tackle and so it goes on for way too long that in the end the person receiving it leaves following significant absence due to mental health breakdowns and/or physical manifestations of stress.

As an Executive Coach, Sehaam Cyrene sees the impact of workplace taboos on her clients, their teams, and on corporate cultures as a whole. Join her as she shares typical ways stress and low grade bullying affects your people, team productivity, and your company culture. Sehaam will offer some practical considerations that can help you build the business case for action and change.

Two sessions are offered during Mental Health Awareness Week, an evening and a breakfast session:
